Director Gary Cursio retired from a 45 year career in the golf industry. He was the founder of the Monterey Golf Management Group that leased and managed golf courses throughout the Bay Area. He is now serving as the Director of Government Affairs for the Monterey County Hospitality Association.
Director Cursio has served on and chaired many of the nonprofit boards in Monterey County. He is the two time past chair of the Monterey County Hospitality Association. He also chaired the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is past chair of the Monterey County Golf Association.
In 2010 Cursio was honored as the Hospitality Professional of the year from the Monterey County Hospitality Association. In 2011 he was honored as the Italian-American of the year by the Italian American Cultural Center foundation.
Before being appointed to the Monterey Peninsula Airport District board of directors on March 14, 2018 Cursio was a member of Team Fly Monterey. An advisory group made up of stakeholders that include hospitality, agriculture, the military, and business. This diverse group meets quarterly with airport staff on a variety of topics that include marketing, and developing public-private partnerships that can potentially interest the airlines to add additional trips to and from the Monterey Regional Airport.
Director Cursio's priorities will include marketing additional flight options through Public Private Partnerships, and increasing community awareness of the easy access and user friendly atmosphere of the Monterey Regional Airport.
